The 6th edition of ILCAD will take place on 3 June 2014 again in many countries with bigger or smaller campaigns around the world. This occasion will feature the 2014 international press conference together with a round table on level crossing safety with experts from different sectors, while side events will be hosted by REFER, the railway infrastructure manager in Lisbon, Portugal.
The public targeted in 2014 are professional drivers (school buses, coaches, taxis, minivans, tractors, trucks, heavy haul trucks, emergency vehicles...).

Ahead of the International Level Crossing Awareness Day 2014 on 3 June UIC together with the United Nations – Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Federal Office of Transport of the Swiss Confederation (FOT) have issued a film of 13 min to give an overview on level crossing safety worldwide and better inform policymakers and the public of the dangers at level crossings.

Quote from the filmed interview of Jean Pierre Loubinoux – Director General, International Union of Railways:

“What I am pledging for as a rail advocate is to really invite the road users and the road institutions to work with us to try to enforce a number of measures that can reduce the consequences of the problem.”

The film “Saving Lives at Level Crossings, A price too high to pay”
will be used by ILCAD partners during their national press conferences, staff and public awareness sessions and shown in the international press conference in Lisbon.
