Germany: Because “Logistics Matters”: DB Schenker launches its own global blog

Showcasing the transport industry’s relevance - New communications channel with wider scope in topics - Set-up in only three months

The global logistics service provider DB Schenker has launched its own company blog as a new platform to engage with the public. Named “Logistics Matters” and dedicated to becoming a central and global hub for stories and content related to the company but also to logistics business in general, it aims to demonstrate the relevance of the industry. As of now, the new platform is accessible at https://blog.dbschenker.com.

Jochen Thewes, DB Schenker’s Chief Executive Officer: “As a global company with various channels, we have a variety of stories to tell. Our new blog opens the opportunity to explore wider themes and to increasingly engage in discussing our industry’s development. Whether it is about supporting during a pandemic, contributing towards a more sustainable future or just ensuring goods and products are available when and where they are needed – logistics matters! This is also highlighted in the name of the blog.”

The blog’s layout and design follow a simple structure of five main categories, all linking DB Schenker’s business topics to a broader scope: Features, Opinions, Trends, Spotlights and Videos. The ‘Opinions’ section will feature interviews and guest articles from not only key players within DB Schenker but also external stakeholders. Content is available in English and all visual elements already follow the recently introduced new corporate design and focus on high quality images in large format.

Within DB Schenker’s corporate communications team, the new blog was developed in the Global Newsroom, headed by Christoph Kocher. Its editorial and technical set-up is supported by the Germany-based agencies PRH Hamburg and clapp.

The initial concept workshop to the actual launch took only three months. Following a ‘mobile-first’ approach, all pages of the global blog have been thoroughly tested for optimized display on smartphones, tablets and desktop. A newsletter subscription function will soon be added.

Within this ongoing kick-off week, DB Schenker’s blog will already see a couple of exclusive posts, including a CEO opinion piece on sustainability in logistics. Additionally, the first video of a heavy-lift VoloDrone has been published on the new platform.
