UIC is delighted to invite you to the webinar on “Railway infrastructure and ecosystem services”, which will take place on 6 March 2026, from 9 am to 11 am CET.
This webinar marks the official launch of the ECOV4R – Ecosystem Valuation for Railways Framework, developed over three years through a collaborative effort involving UIC members worldwide. The framework provides a structured approach for the assessment and valuation of ecosystem services in railway infrastructure, and will be presented alongside its first two pilot applications in the UK and Spain.
As railway infrastructure is increasingly exposed to climate-related and environmental pressures, the ECOV4R Framework offers a practical method to better understand how ecosystem services are affected by railway projects, and how these impacts can be assessed and valued in a consistent way.
The webinar will present:
- The ECOV4R Framework and its overall approach
- Key insights from the pilot applications in the UK and Spain
- How ecosystem service valuation can support railway infrastructure decision-making
The presentations will be delivered by technical partners and UIC members who have contributed to the development and application of the framework.
The event is open to everyone and is free of charge.
