11th UIC sustainability Conference – Call for Papers – Extended deadline 30th of April!

UIC and Renfe kindly invite you to join the “11th UIC Sustainability Conference" - taking place in Madrid from 16–18 June 2010- with the motto "Railways: Mobility for a sustainable future” to understand where the rail sector stands today, share best practices and help influence where rail should go in future sustainable transport systems, introducing new and sustainable ways of life and business!

By submitting a paper within the 30th April your paper might be selected to be presented in the plenary sessions or one of the workshops, or in the poster exhibition of the conference. In addition, your paper will join the competition for the UIC Sustainability Awards.

The aim of the UIC Sustainability Awards is to give visibility to and reward excellence, ground breaking projects and the big efforts made within the rail sector to continuously improve its sustainability performance. The papers will be evaluated by an international jury.

This call for paper is open to all those who are involved in the environment, energy and sustainability business. To cover the different fields, six broad themes are proposed:
- Energy efficiency and CO2
- Emissions reduction
- Noise reduction
- Soil pollution and Sustainable land use,
- Sustainable mobility
- “Open class” for related issues that are currently not covered by the UIC Environment, Energy and Sustainability Expert Networks
