4th international Railway History Conference to be held in Mechelen as part of the 175th anniversary of railways in Belgium

On 27-29 May 2010, the international conference Cities, Railways and their Users will take place in Lamot (Mechelen), organized by the International Railway History Association and Lamot Conference- and Heritage Centre. The conference tackles historical and current questions regarding railway stations and their urban environments regarding heritage, mobility, sustainability etc.

The Lamot Heritage Center and the International Railway History Association (IRHA) invite about 25 international experts in Mechelen, Belgium from May 27th to May 29th 2010. From a historical perspective and based on concrete case studies, we hope to open the debate and stimulate reflections on the innovation of historical railway environments, railway stations and neighborhoods in relation to actual and future city planning and development.
