This is a major railway project of the greatest importance allocated in Spain, thanks to the investment of more than 589.2 million. The new La Sagrera central station will be a strategic hub in the Barcelona metropolitan public transport network, connecting the city with the Spanish and European railway networks in a speedier and safer way.

At present, thanks to an investment of more than 589.2 million, it is an outstanding project of the greatest importance in Spain, and the biggest semi-covered railway development in Spain, covering an area of 38 hectares.
These facilities have been planned to cope with more than 100 million passengers per year, resulting in a transport interchange centre of major importance, connecting high speed railway with suburban networks, regional trains, the underground, buses and taxis, as well as linking private vehicles, as it is connected to the main road network.

These infrastructures: the central station and the urban transformation of the San Andreu and La Sagrera sectors represent the greatest financial investment project to be developed in the city of Barcelona in the forthcoming years. Global investment adds up to approximately €2.250 billion, without including further urbanisation works and construction of housing, shopping, hotel facilities and business areas.
