The new international freight operator created to handle transalpine transit services is to establish its headquarters in Olten, a key rail freight hub. “Being based directly on the north-south corridor will make it a prime location, easily accessible for colleagues from different regions”, explained Michael Stahlhut, CEO of the forthcoming SBB Cargo International. The other advantage is its proximity to the station. Once established, SBB Cargo International will employ around a hundred staff. Plans to fit out the office premises are scheduled for autumn, to be ready for use in the first half of 2011.
