Switzerland: SBB investing in railway gastronomy

Mouth-watering menus in a new-look restaurant coach

To provide passengers with greater comfort and an all-round experience during their journey SBB is investing in railway gastronomy, putting their money on Swiss products and recipes by TV star Andreas C. “Studi” Studler. On top of this they are giving their 18 restaurant coaches a makeover at a cost of 6.5 million francs. The first of these remodelled restaurant carriages rolled out of the workshop in Zurich Altstetten yesterday. By 2013 all 18 coaches will have been revamped for the price of around 6.5 million francs.
