Deutsche Bahn is making thorough preparations for autumn and winter. The company is investing more than an extra 70 million euros this year alone, and aims to invest a total of some 300 million euros by 2015.

The aim is to improve long-term the availability of infrastructure and rolling stock, notably during extreme weather conditions. As Ulrich Homburg, member of DB’s executive board in charge of passenger transport explained, “We want to guarantee our customers reliable and predictable services, even under challenging climatic circumstances. Moreover, in the event of heavy disruption to services, we wish to keep our customers better informed and improve our management of the situation”.
