Following the successful editions held in Delhi (2007) and Saint-Petersburg (2010), the 3rd edition of the UIC Global Rail Freight Conference (GRFC) is to be held from 17 – 19 October 2012 in Tangier. This world conference is hosted and prepared in close cooperation with Morocco’s national railway company (ONCF) and will benefit from the patronage of the Kingdom’s high authorities.

The main theme of GRFC 2012 will be “Rail freight – which role in the evolution of global logistics systems?” The conference will address among other issues: perspectives offered by future rail freight corridors for the global logistics system, intermodality and synergies between shipping lines, ports and rail freight operators, optimising the global supply chain by introduction of new technologies, and the Moroccan hub as a bridge linking Africa to Europe, etc.

High-level round tables with eminent representatives from governments, international institutions and the global logistics world as well as a comprehensive programme of conference sessions will cover all the main issues relating to the evolution of logistics systems around the world. GRFC addresses all players involved in the international development of logistics systems, government authorities and international institutions, rail freight companies, shipping lines and intermodal operators, and partners from industry and trade.

The latest GRFC global conference jointly organised with Russian Railways (RZD) in Saint-Petersburg was attended by over 300 participants from 40 countries.
