Transport for London (TfL) has extended its contract with London Overground Rail
Operations Ltd (LOROL) to operate the London Overground network for a further two years. DB Arriva, the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary responsible for regional transport outside Germany, is one of LOROL’s joint venture partners. Transport for London has taken up the option of extending its existing contract with LOROL, which has been operating the London Overground since 2007. The concession contract is worth 232 million euros and extends until November 2016, following the expiry of the present contract in November 2014.

Under the contract, LOROL will continue to take responsibility for the operation of London Overground train services, as well as maintenance and operation of stations. London Overground connects 20 of London’s 33 boroughs. Rail traffic has increased four-fold in the last six years.
