UIC and the RIVAS consortium have the pleasure to invite you to TWO one-day training workshops in Berlin (Germany) on 22 and 23 May 2013.

See the most promising technologies for vibration mitigation on the track and on the transmission path as well as the latest tools and methods for vibration measurement and assessment and discuss their possible implementation with the project partners and other participants!

Workshop: “Reducing railway induced ground vibrations with mitigation measures on the track”, Berlin, 22 May 2013

This workshop will inform participants about best practice in the implementation of vibration mitigation measures on the track in one comprehensive day.

Workshop highlights:

  • General introduction on mechanisms at work on the track
  • Numerical approach to support design / improvement / optimisation of track related mitigation measures
  • Measurement procedures
  • Mitigation measures for ballasted and slab track
  • Mitigation potential of elastic elements
  • Impact of track maintenance operations
  • Reference track design for vehicle characterisation

Workshop on “Reducing railway induced ground vibrations by interventions on the transmission path”, Berlin, 23 May 2013:

This workshop will inform participants about best practice in the implementation of vibration mitigation interventions on the transmission path in one comprehensive day.

Workshop highlights:

  • General introduction to railway induced ground vibrations and wave propagation in the soil
  • Working principle of vibration mitigation by open trenches, soft and stiff wave barriers, and heavy masses next to the track
  • Design of vibration mitigation measures
  • Practical construction of mitigation measures
  • Measurement procedures for ground borne vibrations
  • Assessing vibration and ground borne noise exposure in building
  • Results from field testing

Both workshops will be held in Berlin within the listed premises of an old gasometer called “die Schmiede”.
