The third UIC international children’s drawing contest on safety at level crossings was recently organised on the occasion of the International Level Crossing Awareness Day 2013 (ILCAD) which will take place on 7 May 2013 worldwide.

The competition was open to all children (including those of UIC HQ colleagues and the
staff of UIC members) in the following age groups: 4-7, 8-12.

This third edition has once again achieved great success with more than 500 drawings (+25% compared to 2011):

  • 272 drawings in the 4-5 year age group
  • 245 drawings in the 8-12 year age group

from different countries, particularly Poland, but also India, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Estonia, France, Hungary, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Rumania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain and the USA.

I take this opportunity to thank all the participants, teachers, parents and railway colleagues for their excellent response and their contribution to the success of this contest.

The competition is now closed and you may vote until 4 April 17:00 (French time). You may choose only one drawing in each category.
