In the presence of Germany’s Federal Minister for Transport Alexander Dobrindt, the CEO of Siemens’ Rail Systems Division Jochen Eickholt delivered the eighth and final ICE 3 high speed train to Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Bahn AG Rüdiger Grube in a ceremony in Berlin. The ICE 3 trainsets have gradually been brought into operation since December 2013 on the Cologne-Frankfurt (Main)-Stuttgart line.

The Chairman of DB commented on the acquisition of the trains, saying, “This has enabled us to substantially reduce bottlenecks which have been occurring for years due to the tenfold increase in the frequency of axle tests which was introduced in 2009.”
