The UIC Legal Group held its meeting on 13 June 2014.

The meeting, chaired by Marie-Ghislaine Hénuset of SNCB Holding, was attended by around a dozen members with an interest in the legal matters to be addressed.

The morning session focused on the subject of Intellectual Property applied to railway transport activity through trademark protection and copyright.

The Chair suggested creating five Working Groups: Public Procurement – Competition – Intellectual Property – Wagon Law and Corporate UIC. Members were asked to appoint a contact person for each of these groups who could respond to requests from members or UIC relating to any of these areas. Formal meetings can be organised but the work can also be carried out by email.

Following the referral to the UIC Finance Committee, a working group will meet to reflect on the issue of limitation periods for Yugoslav debts and propose an answer which must then be approved by all the members of the Legal Group.
