A delegation from the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation visited UIC on 17 July 2014. While Indonesian Railways, PT KAI, are already UIC members, their line ministry in charge of infrastructure organisation and regulation made a short trip to learn more about Europe’s railway supply industry and to visit UIC.

The purpose of this delegation composed of 14 railway experts was to discuss UIC Standards for Train-to-Ground Communication for Long Distance Trains, Commuter Trains, and MRT. Whilst in Indonesia no provision has yet been made for frequency allocations, the Ministry of Transport is currently preparing an application for frequency allocation to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, with the need to take stock of the situation around the world and what is best in terms of GSM-R, Tetra and P25.

This visit was an opportunity to present the UIC Standards in this particular area, as well to show the results of the previous conference on the subject in March 2013 in Delhi, and to invite the delegation to attend the 3rd Control Command and Signalling (CCS) Workshop in Tokyo from 22 – 23 October 2014.
