On 15 January, the participants in the second round of the DB’s innovation contest moved into the DB mindbox premises, the Deutsche Bahn’s co-working space in Berlin. For the record, in addition to this dedicated working space, these start-ups also won €25,000 in funding to bring digital innovations to the world of DB’s railways.

DB mindbox is at the core of the “Infrastructure 4.0” initiative, one of the four main lines of DB’s digitalisation strategy. The premises, located under three arches at the Jannowitzbrücke station by the Spree River, offer 30 work stations and rooms which can be rearranged to host seminars, events or even informal meetings. Thanks to this inspiring work space, DB’s and start-ups’ employees have already started to work on the railway infrastructure’s digitalisation. Innovation and emulation actually play an essential role for the Infrastructure 4.0 initiative through the “DB Accelerator” programme: hackathons and challenges on digitalisation are regularly set up at DB mindbox.
