Russia/India: Russian Railways and India’s Ministry of Railways sign cooperation protocol on cooperation in the field of high-speed rail service

Russian Railways and Indian Ministry of Railways have signed a cooperation protocol in the field of high-speed railway service.

The signing took place at the 8th BRICS Summit, which was held in Goa in India from 15 – 16 October 2016.

The President of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov signed the document on behalf of the Company.

The protocol was included during the development of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 24 December 2015.

In accordance with the document, the parties intend to conduct joint research into increasing the speed of passenger trains on the existing 575 km railway section between the cities of Nagpur and Secunderabad up to 200 kph.

The parties have also agreed to decide upon the project’s financing mechanisms as soon as possible.
