Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration) has upgraded the railway line from Hranice na Moravě to Střelná in the section between Teplice nad Bečvou – Hustopeče nad Bečvou. The project’s main objective was to restore the line to a technical condition corresponding to European parameters and standards.

Within the project, modifications were made to the track superstructure and substructure, platforms, railway crossings, bridge structures, and subcomponents of the electrical power supply. At Černotín and Milotice nad Bečvou stations, new pedestrian level crossings were built for passengers, with a traffic-light interlocking system.

The greatest benefit of the upgrades carried out on route 280 is increased travelling comfort and operational safety. The implementation of this project enables us to increase top speeds in the section between Teplice nad Bečvou and Hustopeče stations, which should have positive effects on reduced travelling times” stated SŽDC Director-General Pavel Surý.

In compliance with the overall objective of Priority Axis 1 of the Operating Programme (Transport), which is to improve rail transport on the trans-European Network (TEN-T), this project has delivered increased transport availability, and has provided track capacity and rail traffic quality able to meet long-range transport targets. Another positive impact of the project is improved safety at level crossings.

The project, formally known as “Line 280 Hranice na Moravě – Střelná, section Teplice nad Bečvou (excl.) – Hustopeče nad Bečvou (excl.)”, has an anticipated total cost of CZK 630,195,370 (not including VAT). It formed part of the Operating Programme (Transport) and was co-funded by the European Union Cohesion Fund, receiving the maximum amount possible of CZK 471,952,820. National funding was provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The contractor was Czech company IDS – Inženýrské a dopravní stavby Olomouc a.s.
