On 18 April, the Fer de France General Assembly appointed Patrick Jeantet as its new chairman. The SNCF Réseau CEO succeeds EGIS Group Chairman Nicolas Jachiet.

Founded in 2012, Fer de France brings together all public and private-sector rail stakeholders, in particular passenger and freight operators and the rail supply industry. As he takes the helm, Patrick Jeantet will be looking to further his predecessor’s ambition of increasing transparency in French rail policy.

One of Fer de France’s goals is to obtain a clear view of future transport policy in general, and specifically for rail, over the next 5 to 10 years. Sustainability is also a core priority. Fer de France supports all sector stakeholders in meeting their commitment to reduce CO² emissions. Lastly, the body encourages rail sector stakeholders to innovate and modernise their services.
