UIC Digital Award Winners

Together with its Members, railway companies, and through establishing ties with digital stakeholders, UIC is giving the opportunity to shape the future of mobility!

The UIC Digital Awards in November 2016 – the first Awards in the digital field to be presented by the International Union of Railways (UIC) – seek to recognise the sharing of knowledge between railway companies and start-ups.

These Digital Awards should open new perspectives to the railway sector and to future mobility due to the innovative and creative nature of start-up companies.

Hence, the slogan of this edition is “Start-ups! Together let’s shape the future of Mobility. UIC is your smart partner, Join the Ecosystem.”

65 start-ups competed, here are the four winners:

Vivanoda - Services Category
Vivanoda is a French start-up that developed a website enabling you to compare and combine in a single search several modes of transport (flight, bus, rail, ferries and carsharing) between two cities. By specifying your travel dates, the application queries real-time rates and availability on partner travel sites, allowing the user to compare offers and then make a reservation.

Research and application Innovation Centre for Big Data Technology - Productivity Category
The purpose of this institution is to implement China big data strategy, and promote the research and application of big data in railway. Research and application Innovation Centre for Big Data Technology in Railway was established in 2013, with a team of 50 people. The project focuses on the application of image big data analysis technology in China railway.

Zhongtieke Software Technology - Safety Category
Zhongtieke Software Technology is a Chinese start-up. The project is a Data Service Platform. This platform integrates multi-source data, big data platform analyses and mines those data in detail, through a statistical model, machine learning and deep learning algorithm, to target risks and hidden dangers more efficiently, and furthermore to predict accidents and faults happening in the future.

Kaia Health - Special mention - Health at work
Kaia is a start-up from Germany. Kaia’s first product is an App-based digital therapy focused on chronic pain. Kaia transforms the most effective offline therapies into digital therapies and connects these therapies to technologies that enhance the therapy effect.
