Crisis Management (CM) is one of the core issues of the security organisation. Following the daily news, we unfortunately regularly see the importance of an efficient and workable CM-Structure. In April 2017, the UIC Security Division published the first recommendation guide for crisis management (https://uic.org/IMG/pdf/crisis_management_report.pdf). “Crisis Management & Resilience” is the overarching topic for 2018, as was announced during the 13th UIC World Security Congress in Potsdam.

We are delighted to invite you to the Workshop “Crisis Communication and Social Media”, which will take place from 13 – 14 February at UIC HQ in Paris. The main focus will be the use of different communication channels and best practices for the internal and external communication during crisis situations. Another focus will be the use of social media and the related problems (e.g. false information).

The event will be organised around four technical sessions:

  • Communication concepts from railway companies
  • Communication concepts from third parties (other CI operators / sectors, first responders, authorities, etc.)
  • Crisis communication – research results and perspectives
  • Communication guidelines workshop (held by the University of Sheffield)

Target group:
This workshop is aimed at colleagues who are dealing with crisis management, first responders and blue light organizations, critical infrastructure operators as well as researchers, journalists and communication experts.

More information about the event as well as the registration form are available at the following link: https://events.uic.org/workshop-on-crisis-communication-and-social-media.
The participation is free of charge, but the number of places is limited. Registration is therefore on a “first come first served” basis.
