Russia: Russian Railways health system goes international

OJSC Russian Railways and ORPEA S.A. have concluded an agreement on cooperation in the field of medical rehabilitation at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum
Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Russian Railways, signed the document on behalf of the Company, and Yves Le Mann, Managing Director of ORPEA S.A. placed his signature for the French firm.

The document provides for the establishment of a system of medical rehabilitation based on existing facilities owned by the Russian Railways Holding and the development of medical specialities in areas of rehabilitation necessary for the functioning of post-hospital programmes.

The agreement also provides for study into the needs for rehabilitation services that will be provided in the institutions of the RZD-Medicine network. In the first stage, these are located in Moscow and the Moscow Region.

ORPEA S.A. will be engaged in the adaptation and restructuring of the existing medical facilities owned by the Russian Railways holding company in accordance with the proposed model in the area of Medical Rehabilitation.

It is planned that over time, rehabilitation clusters will be organised in the network of RZD-Medicine and in other regions of Russia on the basis of a model created in Moscow.
