UIC participates in the International Railway Conference from 11 – 12 June 2019 in Bucharest

On 11 and 12 June in Bucharest, UIC Deputy Director General François Davenne participated in the International Railway Conference, organised by the Ministry of Transport of Romania, in the context of the EU Presidency of Romania.

Key personalities such as Ms Elisabeth Werner, Land Transport Director, DG MOVE Mr Josef Doppelbauer, Executive Director, ERA, Mr Keir Fitch, Head of Unit Rail Safety and Interoperability, DG MOVE participated in the event.

François Davenne participated in the panel on the “Harmonisation of the railway legislation in parallel with the adaptation of the technical solutions in achieving interoperability.” He presented rail as the smart backbone for mobility, having to manage with internal regulations and external interfaces.

He also defended the place of the UIC operational standards (International Railway Solutions, IRS) for the implementation of an integrated European railway area.
