Kazakhstan: Railways of Kazakhstan and China discuss further development of transport at border stations

A working meeting was held between representatives of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC JSC and the Chinese Railways Corporation at Dostyk and Alashankou stations.

The Kazakhstan delegation was headed by the first Deputy Chairman of the Management board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC JSC Kanat Almagambetov; the Chinese delegation was headed by the Deputy General Director of the Chinese Railways Corporation Li Wensin.

During the meeting, issues of further cooperation to improve the quality of services provided in the field of container cargo transport between the Republic of Kazakhstan and China with the participation of experts from the railway administrations of the two countries were discussed.

According to Kanat Almagambetov, thanks to the efforts of the parties over 8 months of this year, over 10.8 million tonnes of cargo were transported through the border crossings Dostyk-Alashankou and Khorgos-Altynkol, which is 11 percent higher than last year.

The volume of container traffic in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan increased by 41% compared to last year.

In 2020, the plan is to increase the volume of cargo transport up to 18 million tonnes, container transport - up to 1.1 million containers in TEU.

The participants in the working meeting appreciated the work of the infrastructure and the technical capacities of the border docking stations Dostyk and Alashankou. The delegation examined the reception and departure fleet, the wagon transfer station, as well as the office for transfer, customs clearance of transport documents and more.
