Romania: Mr Dan Marian Costescu appointed new General Director of CFR Calatori

On 23 January 2020, Mr Dan Marian Costescu took over the executive management of SNTFC CFR Călători S.A., the national company for passenger railway transport in Romania.

His work experience, gained over 25 years of activity in fields such as management, railway business development, project management and implementation, railway consultancy, research and academia, has enabled him to hold important positions in private and state-owned companies in Romania and Europe, in areas such as railway industry and operations.

Former Minister of Transport in Romania, Vice-President of CER and General Director of the National Railway Company CFR S.A. - the railway infrastructure manager company in Romania, he was also responsible, individually or within complex teams, for procurement, restructuring, market repositioning and integration strategies within railway entities such as Romvag S.A. (Romania), Karsdorfer Eisenbahn - KEG (Germany) or the Romanian Railway Authority (AFER).

He has also founded, developed and managed railway engineering companies such as Forschung Mess – und Daten-Technik Zentrum (Germany) and Sistematic Engineering (Romania), and has also represented the Romanian Railways in bodies of the European Railway Research Institute - ERRI.

Mr Dan Marian Costescu was born on 23 February 1969 and is fluent in English and German.
