Slovenske železnice (SŽ) and UIC are organising the next UIC Security Congress, which will be held in Bled, Slovenia from 16 – 18 October 2018.

Following on from last year’s congress held in Potsdam, Germany under the theme of “Railway freight security door to door”, this year’s 14th edition will be under the umbrella theme of “Crisis Management and Resilience” and will concentrate on the handling of (partial) blackout situations.

The congress will provide a unique opportunity to learn from past incidents and increase the resilience for future ones.

The 14th UIC World Security Congress will be organised around the following four technical sessions:

  • First technical session: Blackout Situation in Slovenia 2014 – Slovenian State Administration
  • Second technical session: Blackout Situation in Slovenia 2014 – Impact on SŽ
  • Third technical session: Blackout Situation – Railway experience and challenges
  • Fourth technical session: Crisis Management

In addition, a workshop on safety and security of tunnels will be organised on the first day (16 October).

We would like to stress the importance of the issues under discussion during the event, particularly in today’s context and can assure you that the high-level presentations will be very useful for the attendees.
