Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS) working group meeting held on 5 October 2018 in Paris

The latest meeting of the Commuter and Regional Train Services (CRTS) group was held on 5 October at UIC Paris Headquarters. There were representatives from PKP SKM, Korail, BLS, Euskotren and JR East. UIC was represented by Mr Marc Guigon, Director of the Passenger Department, Clément Gautier and Amin Saadoui from the same department and Marie-Hélène Bonneau and Bernard Penners from the Security and Safety Departments respectively.

During this meeting, the group focused on the progress of work relating to the on CRTS project handbook. The “Ticketing Systems” chapter was presented to the members for review and comments and a discussion led by the heads of the UIC Safety and Security Departments took place regarding the “Comprehensive Protection” chapter of the handbook.

The CRTS project handbook aims to provide guidelines and recommendations to commuter and regional rail operators on how to initiate and manage CRT operations covering ticketing, safety and security, legal and communication issues, challenges and best practices.

In addition to work on the handbook, the members discussed diverse topics regarding the future activities of the group and presented ideas for potential future projects to be carried out within the CRTS group.
