The Ticketing Layout Group (TLG) meeting took place on 24 and 25 June 2019 with 20 participants representing 15 railways companies.
Focus was placed on the new UIC IRS 90918-8 which contained the technical standards for the layouts of cross border passenger train tickets. Layouts are defined on secure CIT paper (RCT2 and RCCST) and on blank paper and screens (A4RT and FST).
The meeting discussed a new layout ticket definition for bicycle or dogs alike. This new layout is now standardised and the IRS 90918-8 should now be updated accordingly.
For screen or blank paper, a proposal was made to allow willing railways to combine several adults, children, bicycles and dogs on a single ticket.
The meeting of the TSG took place on the afternoon of 25 June.
Kurt De Vriendt gave a presentation about the implementation of the IRS 90918-9 and the upcoming potential developments in the leaflet.
Developments can be foreseen in the areas of improved security (elliptical curve DSA and dynamic barcodes) as well as the possibility to integrate so-called “urban tickets”, since city transport companies show interest in using the FCB, which is an opportunity to integrate this kind of transport in international ticketing (door-to-door travel).
The group decided that Kurt should study more in depth how these evolutions could be implemented and what the consequences will be on the existing systems, already using FCB.
The meeting of PSS took place on 26 and 27 June. The main topics covered the data exchange for reservation, online control of tickets and the current work on a New Tariff Model. The recent changes and implementations of reservation systems were discussed and the upcoming new systems of MAV, SZ and ÖBB were presented. The current status of the new IRS on ticket control (IRS90918-4) was presented. UIC is currently tendering a central service option to simplify the implementation for the members. The New Tariff Model is a temporary joint work group with the fare experts of the Sales Progress Group to allow the exchange and booking not only of static fares data but also of dynamic fares data. The current status was presented and discussed.
