The workshop to exchange experience for the employees of Altynkol station was held at Khorgos station. The event was organised to discuss issues of improving the throughput of the Khorgos - Altynkol railway checkpoint.

The workshop was attended by instructors, station attendants, and shunting dispatchers. The seminar participants visited the production facilities of Khorgos station, conducted an analysis of problematic issues, and proposed a detailed algorithm for the interaction of the workers of the two stations.

Among others, the issue of reducing the turnover of the locomotive along the 1520 mm gauge from the moment of departure from Altynkol station was discussed. According to the agreement reached between the railway administrations of the two countries, the locomotive must be returned from the moment the train arrives in reserve no later than two hours, with wagons no more than three hours.

At the moment, the turnover of the locomotive is on average 5 hours 30 minutes.
Also discussed was the issue of the development of a single form, filled out in Kazakh and Chinese, for the PRC train drivers at Altynkol station.

It is noted that at the moment, there is a dynamic growth of cargo transport between Altynkol and Khorgos. For 8 months of 2019, the volume of traffic between the Republic of Kazakhstan and China through the Altynkol-Khorgos border crossing amounted to 2.5 million tonnes, including the export of 341,000 tonnes, which is 55% more than in the same period in 2018. Imports amounted to 2.2 million tonnes, which is 57% more than the same period in 2018.

In addition, the processing of containers in transit through the Altynkol station has been increased to destinations in China-Europe, China-Central Asia, China-Iran and other destinations. For 8 months of this year, 150.9 thousand TEUs in transit were processed.
