In2Track3, the railway infrastructure project funded by the EU through the Shift2Rail programme, is delighted to announce its upcoming webinar “The Future of Vegetation Management”. This webinar aims to facilitate collective action towards efficient and sustainable vegetation management practices along railway tracks.

Why vegetation management matters now more than ever

In recent years, vegetation management has taken centre stage in the railway infrastructure sector due to its significant impact on the environment. Improper vegetation management can lead to operational disruption and safety hazards on railway tracks. Moreover, with increasing concerns regarding biodiversity loss and the necessity for the sustainable use of pesticides (or plant protection products), it has become an urgent priority for industry stakeholders.

Changing environmental regulations and the growing need for sustainable practices in our industry have made vegetation management a top priority. This webinar is a step towards finding effective, eco-friendly solutions together” states Pernilla Edlund, PM at In2Track3.

Webinar highlights

The webinar, which will be held on 14 June 2023, from 14:00 to 15:00 (CEST), will dive into:

  • The European Union’s regulatory landscape concerning biodiversity and plant protection products
  • The UIC TRISTRAM project’s strategies for vegetation management
  • Successful weed management practices at SNCF
  • Strategies for sustainable habitat management, focusing on vegetation control and biodiversity
  • The desired direction for European railway infrastructure companies to take when finding optimal vegetation management solutions
