The EU-funded H2020 PROACTIVE project, coordinated by the UIC Security Division, held its 15th consortium meeting on 28 – 30 March 2023 in Brussels, Belgium. Almost all of the consortium partners were able to attend in person, but those who could not, joined the meeting online.

On the first day, after registration and a welcome lunch, the consortium partners exchanged about the ongoing tasks and project activities.

The partners were provided with an overview of the latest deliverables. The first entitled D6.4 Report on the second field exercise and evaluation workshop highlights the findings and lessons learned from the exercise held in Rieti, Italy in November 2022, co-organised with the H2020 eNOTICE project and hosted by the NBC Defence School. The second entitled D5.2 Final Pre-Incident Public Information Materials for CBRNe terrorism showcases all the research activities undertaken to develop the final version of these materials.

Next, the ongoing work on D3.2 Aide Memoire for future exercises or demonstrations involving vulnerable groups was shared with the partners. All discussed the best way to present the information to make it easy for exercise planners to use. Several ideas were exchanged and these were incorporated into the final version, which was published just after the meeting.

Furthermore, the latest updates concerning the Web Collaborative Platform and Mobile App were provided. The roadmap for optimising these tools ahead of the third and final field exercise was also shared and developments are on track.

The meeting was also an excellent opportunity for the project partners to discuss the planning of the upcoming exercise which will be held on 13 May 2023 in Belgium organised by Campus Vesta. During the meeting, partners walked through planned scenarios, allocated tasks and responsibilities with a view to facilitate exercise management and discussed the volunteer recruitment process, all while ensuring the planning process is taking into account ethical considerations.

Lastly, the meeting was also an opportunity to make preparations for the project’s Final Conference, which will be held jointly with EU funded projects eNOTICE and PANDEM-2. Consortium partners shared ideas and feedback to ensure the event’s success. The conference will be held on 13 – 15 June 2023 in Brussels, Belgium.

This was also an opportunity to have an in-person planning meeting with a representative of Campus Vesta, who are organising the upcoming field exercise. The joint collaboration between Campus Vesta, eNOTICE and PROACTIVE is progressing efficiently.

In conclusion, the PROACTIVE 15th Progress Meeting was highly productive. The meeting provided an opportunity for all partners to discuss and present updates on their work and prepare for key, upcoming events.

Many thanks to the European CBRNe Centre for hosting the meeting at the North Sweden Office in Brussels.

The next progress meeting will take place on 12 – 13 June 2023 in Brussels, Belgium just ahead of the Final Conference.
