From 14 to 16 April 2026, the upcoming Noise and Vibration Sector Meeting will take place in Utrecht, Netherlands, hosted by ProRail. Twenty-one financing NOise and VIbration Technical Advice (NOVITÀ) members will convene to address emerging challenges and technical solutions in noise and vibration mitigation, with the objective of strengthening the railway sector’s performance as a responsible neighbour.
In parallel to the sector meetings, ProRail will also organise the Vibration Innovation Research Event on 15 April 2026. This in-person public event, open to external experts, aims to strengthen practical knowledge sharing on vibration-related topics.
The event will cover the four-year vibration innovation programme, commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management under the Innovation Agenda: Source-Based Approach to Railway Vibration. It investigated how railway vibrations arise, and which measures can effectively contribute to reducing vibration-related nuisance. The programme will include several thematic sessions (see the link for further details):
- Session 1: Reduced vibrations through rolling stock measures
- Session 2: Infrastructure maintenance
- Session 3: Railway Vibrations Emission Model (STEM)
- Session 4: Infrastructure innovations
Attendance at the in-person Vibration Innovation Research Event is limited to 50 participants and requires prior registration via MS Forms.
The Noise and Vibration Sector Meetings are a permanent UIC NOVITÀ activity, exclusively reserved for its members. They provide a neutral and structured platform for railway undertakings and infrastructure managers to address shared strategic and technical challenges, share best practices, and define clear sector outcomes. Registration is mandatory for both in-person and online participation on 14 and 16 April, via MS Forms.
