In the era driven by digitalisation, artificial intelligence, climate imperatives, cybersecurity risks, new mobility models and evolving passenger expectations, the railway sector must innovate faster, smarter and more collaboratively to remain the sustainable backbone of global transport. The UIC Research and Innovation unit coordinates these efforts globally, ensuring that regional projects align with a shared strategic vision across the six UIC regions.
